Jane
is talking a lot about how she once was and how she now is. These are
two sides of herself and the younger one is the older subordinate women
and the older one, who works at ----shire is the more modern speak for
yourself type of women. At the beginning of the book Jane is "dependent...you have no money; your father left you none"(pg 6). She is very dependent on Mrs Reed for life as her parents died while she was young and left her orphaned.
I like the comparison you make between Jane as a child and Jane as an adult. Perhaps you could go into a bit more detail here; for example, how was Jane still dependent while at Lowood?
